We'd like to wish our friends and supporters a safe and happy 2021.

We've just got back from a week on the Isle of Wight which is situated in the south of England. Whilst there we couldn't resist visiting a few of the well known haunted spots on the island including Betty Haunt Lane near Carisbrooke and Appuldurcombe House at Wroxall.
The story of Betty Haunt Lane is that Betty was a barmaid at the nearby Blacksmiths Arms pub which was very popular with the local smuggling gang. She made the mistake of falling in love with a revenue protection man and (maybe inadvertently) betrayed her smuggling friends. Most were arrested but those who weren't came back and murdered her. Slowly. Her strangled remains were discovered in the lane which now bears her name. Not only has she been seen at the pub, but she was also allegedly seen by the owner of the local donkey sanctuary when it was based here. She actually spoke to him and warned him never to visit the area without a dog! We spent an hour along the lane calling out and taking photos with little responses. However one of the pictures did have a strange light anomaly on it. It was a dry night with any noticeable insects flying around. Our first call of 2020 came from a resident of Margate in Kent. She was living in the Old Town area and had recently lost her beloved husband. However, he had returned and was still apparently trying to his normal life in the home. Read more about this in our investigation homepage....
Two of our team did a live Facebook stream on our page from a location near the River Medway near Rainham. This was a former industrial site and alleged location of the hanging of some Dutch raiders following the attack on Chatham in June 1667.
Sadly there wasn't much paranormal activity during the investigation just some local oiks letting off fireworks! On Saturday 24th August Jake's 8 year old niece Caitlin did a sponsored Spooky Sleep Over in a haunted location in Thanet to raise money for local charity Headway East Kent. The sleep Over was in a tent and while there were no sightings of anything paranormal there were plenty of mosquitoes! Caitlin raised £50 for the charity.
On Tuesday 9th July a few of our team went for a little rural ramble in deepest Kent. Due to the history of the spot and out of respect of those involved we're not going to name it or post any location references. It was certainly an interesting evening and the lane felt very opressive at times. We shall be returning here at a later date.
Despite the lack of updates we've been quite busy. Several of our team members visited the Isle of Wight in May and managed to get to a couple of allegedly haunted location. Whilst nothing was seen or heard both spots were decidedly atmospheric. We are hoping to return to the Island in October and will organise something a little substancial for then.
At the end of May a small team visited a bay on the Isle of Thanet near Margate which we haven't been to for many years. We were there for a few hours during the early evening and despite still being daylight a few things were sensed by one of our sensitive members. On Tuesday 19th February we attended our first investigation of 2019. Whilst only a short one it saw us do a preliminary look at a location with a view to returning in warmer weather for a full investigation. The location passed the test! In the short time we were there we experienced footsteps, unexplained EMF and a shadow figure. If it hadn't have been so cold we certainly would have stayed.
We look forward to returning here with a bigger team and maybe spending the entire night here. Normally a lot of paranormal TV leaves us with a bit of a sour taste in our mouths. Over animated and over excited presenters scream and jump at the slightest thing - which is odd as that's the very thing they're there for! Plus non of the evidence they provide can be taken as 100% proof as it's always for "entertainment purposes only". That aside, I've been watching Paranormal Lockdown with Nick Groff and Katrina Weidman and I must confess it's pretty good. These are the sort of investigations most of us would love to do, spending 72 hours in a allegedly haunted location. There's a few episodes on Quest OD as well as on Amazon but here is a link to one on YouTube just to wet your whistle. On 22nd September we attended an outdoor investigation at a location in Deal, Kent. Although it was raining the investigation was well attended. At one point we were all listening to unexplained footsteps on the otherside of a hedge. Along with unexplained voices and horses this was a fairly active night.
The location was very photogenic. Although some of these were taken with a flash, we prefer to use a long exposure to reduce contamination.
Our latest investigation took place on Saturday 24th March. We visited a property that we've had the privilege of going to before. As is always the case at this location we were made to feel very welcome by the staff and we'd like to say a big thank you to them for allowing us to explore all night! Pictures to follow.
We've just taken delivery of this little spirit box. It's one of the cheaper ones on the market at around £30. We shall be giving it a try at our next investigation and will let you know what we think.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/137165576400847/permalink/1422362607881131/ After a quiet year due to work commitments, we're now back! We have several investigations lined up for this forthcoming year as well as a bit of a change to our reporting process.
Last year we stopped posting the reports as this was leading to the paid events following us around and copying our material. This goes against our ethics. These people are just out to make money and leave all sorts of turmoil in their wake. However this year we're hoping to resolve this without giving too much away regarding locations. We are looking forward to several investigations over the coming few months, some which will take us to new locations. Our first investigation this year will be a local one in Thanet and is an indoor one. The building has plenty of history and also has had reported activity.
The CHAPS team will also be visiting several outdoor locations too. There's a lot to be said exploring allegedly haunted locations outside, although some groups have decided it's not for them. As long as the area isn't private land we'd recommend it. There's nothing better than a midnight ramble with a few friends looking for paranormal activity! We have secured a number of indoor locations for investigations next year the first of which we hope to be before Easter. We'll also be visiting a number of outdoor locations too so here's to a dry 2017!
Merry Christmas and have a safe and happy New Year from all the team at Channel Paranormal. Some of our team have made a return visit to the previous location on the North Kent Coast. Sadly on this occasion there was no activity at all.
We're hoping over the next few months to have a couple of more investigations - maybe an indoor one too! We're always looking for new locations , so if you're experiencing odd things happening , get in touch. 99% of time we will be able to explain what is going on or offer a rational explanation. A few of our team members met at an outdoor location on the North Kent coast on the 12th September for an impromptu investigation.
After some calling out some distinct footsteps were heard in some ballast that was nearby. Various animal noises were heard throughout the rest of our stay at the location which left us a little uncertain whether it was all animal noise or something else. Although we couldn't say for certain this location was definitely haunted we will certainly be returning there soon to continue our investigations. We've had a fairly busy last few months. Although we've not done many investigations it's certainly not stopped us from going out and about. Compounded by a technical fault that found us unable to edit the website, we've now resolved this issue. Also from now on we will not be naming our location on this site. Our reports will also cease to be published too. This is because of certain paranormal event teams trolling groups like Channel Paranormal to find out locations they have been attending. They then approach the location and price teams like ours out by charging individuals anything from £25 a head upwards. Personally we find this very disheartening not only for us, but for many other GENUINE teams too. Remember, if you have to pay this sort of money for an event, they're more likely to 'act out' things on your behalf. These will most certainly not be genuine investigations.
Our main investigation this summer was at the a location in Margate on 9th July. This was an amazing location which although being investigated by other teams in the past this was the first time we'd been there. We've also investigated a couple of smaller locations near Minnis Bay (also in Kent) too. We'll be returning to another indoor location in Thanet in a few months time. |
