team equipment
At CHA.P.S. we use a variety of equipment in our investigations. Some are tried and tested, some are experimental. There seems to be a different piece of kit coming out every week! Not all of this is usefeul, or even fit for purpose!... We like to keep abreast of new technology and make our own judgements as the need arises. Below is a brief rundown of the kit we use:
k2 emf meter
Many people believe that spirits emit an electro-magnetic field, otherwise known as EMF. Although this has not been proven, we like to carry out base line measurements at investigations as in many cases, it turns out that there is a man made explanation for high readings. Poor wiring has been known to cause the exact same symptoms as hauntings.
mel meter
The 'Mel Meter is a dual purpose combination unit that measures both EMF (Electromagnetic Field) and ambient temperature simultaneously. The Mel Meter was designed and developed by Gary Galka of DAS Distribution Inc. We use more than one kind of EMF meter to corroborate readings.
Infra Red video camera
Perfect for use in the dark, the Infra red light is nearly invisible to the human eye, yet illuminates perfectly for the camera to see. Of course, it's not a requirement to investigate in the dark, but this kind of camera is a must if you are!...
Laser thermometer
Reports of temperature changes in hauntings are commonplace. By using this type of thermometer, we can pinpoint the temperature in particular areas.
p-sb7 spirit box
The P-SB7 Spirit Box is a great compact tool for attempting communication with paranormal entities. It uses radio frequency sweeps to generate white noise which theories suggest give some entities the energy they need to be heard. When this occurs you will sometimes hear voices or sounds coming through the static in an attempt to communicate. When using this device, we try to limit the possibility of commercial radio contamination by using a Faraday Box, which stops the antenna from picking up local radio frequncies. We also let the Spirit box run for a couple of sweeps before attempting communication.
Digital voice recorder
An absolute must for recording audio evidence! Not much we can say more really!
walkie talkies
Mainly used in larger venues, so that members of the team can stay in touch and know exactly where each other is. Somebody walking around in a room above you can easily be taken as something it isn't.
CCTv system
A necessity to ensure full video coverage. All cameras are IR equipped, meaning that they can still see in the dark.
last, but not least!...
common sense!
We are all experienced Investgators who use many years experience. We will look at any and every piece of evidence we get and debunk as much as we can until we have no other explanation. In some cases, it may be necessary to seek opinions from experts in technical fields. In these cases, discretion is always assured...
